Large Nicho - Antique Guadalupe

A "Nicho" (meaning "niche") are small, hand-made tin boxes constructed to display lovingly crafted scenarios.

Traditional nichos are extensions of household altars, and depict patron saints or ancestors.  
They can act as shrines, protection, or devotional objects, and may be part of active religious practice

This Nicho features The Virgin of Guadalupe refers to when the Virgin Mary— the mother of Jesus and a very important saint in the Roman Catholic religious tradition—appeared to a man named Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531. She holds a special place in the culture and religious life of many Mexicans and Mexican Americans.

Lovingly handmade & painted in Mexico, have a hook for hanging & a hinged door.
